The Cleft is located in the middle of the red light district, next to the Tabernacle, YWAM's house of prayer. From this building we reach out to the men and women who work in behind the windows in prostitution and we invite them to come inside for Bible studies, dinners, or coffee times. A few times a week we also have street evangelism outreaches.
We believe that it is not a coincidence that we are located next to the Tabernacle. We desire worship, prayer and intercession to go hand in hand with evangelism and outreach, strengthening each other.
The name of the Cleft building is prophetic. The building is located in the middle of the red light district and to us it symbolises the rock in the wilderness that Moses struck with his rod and from which God caused water to come streaming out of the cleft of the rock. It is our prayer that He would use this building in the same way, pouring new life into all those in the surrounding desert.
God has spoken to us about hospitality, so we have opened our doors for other ministries and churches to use the ground floor of the building as well.
The first, second and third floor serve as housing for YWAM staff.
